Privacy Policy

In short: Moonpane has no accounts, no ads and no cookies, and it does not ask for your personal information. Your settings and art stay on your device. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which sees the technical details any web host sees, including your IP address, and gives us visit statistics. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. If you email us or donate, we receive what you send.

Who we are

Moonpane, previously called Nightglass, is a free web app. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the Moonpane project. You can reach us at moonpane.support@gmail.com.

What we collect

The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or anything else that identifies you. It has no sign-in, no forms, no advertising and no social media widgets, and it does not set cookies.

Information about you can reach someone else in only four ways, each explained below: visit statistics, hosting and technical data, an email you send us, and a donation.

What stays on your device

• Your settings are saved in your browser's local storage so the app remembers them: theme, district and its random seed, your favourite looks and recently used looks (each one is just a district, a palette and a seed number), animation level (and the level to return to after Pause motion), whether to follow your phone's reduced-motion setting, frosted glass, sounds, rain ambience, volume, and which phone screen the Wallpaper Lab sizes images for.
• Cached app files are kept by your browser so Moonpane can open offline.
• Wallpapers, widget panels and icons are drawn on your device. They only leave it if you choose to save or share them, for example with your phone's share sheet, by downloading them, or by adding them to your photo library. We never receive them.

You can erase all of this by using Reset settings and Clear saved looks in the app, deleting the Home Screen app, or clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Device features

• Sound is played by the app. It never uses your microphone or camera.
• Motion sensors are used only for the optional tilt effect, only after you switch it on and allow it, and the readings never leave your device.
• The app never asks for your location, your contacts or your photo library.

Visit statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit Moonpane. A small script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com) runs when a page opens and reports the page, where the visit came from, your country, browser, operating system and device type, and how quickly the page loaded. We only see totals and breakdowns, never an individual visitor's history.

Cloudflare says this tool does not use cookies or local storage and does not "fingerprint" individuals, and that building visitor profiles for advertising is not its business. Cloudflare decides how long it keeps this data. You can read more in Cloudflare's documentation. Browsers and extensions that block trackers may block this script, and Moonpane works the same without it.

Hosting and technical data

Moonpane is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you open the site, Cloudflare receives the technical information needed to deliver it, such as your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages requested and the time. Any website host receives this, and some laws treat an IP address as personal information. Cloudflare may keep logs and security data under its own privacy policy. We can see overall visit numbers from Cloudflare, which can include automated visitors such as search engines and link previews. We do not try to identify visitors.

If you write to us

If you email moonpane.support@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. The inbox is run by Google under its own privacy policy. We use your message only to reply and to fix problems, and you can ask us to delete it. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to write for you.

Donations

If the app shows a donation link, it opens a page run by a separate payment provider. The provider handles your payment and personal details under its own terms and privacy policy, and we never see your card or bank details. Depending on the provider, we may be told your name, email address and message. We use that only to thank you and keep records, and we do not sell or share it.

Children

Moonpane is for a general audience and is not aimed at children under 13. It does not ask anyone for personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before donating.

Sharing your information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. What we receive ourselves is overall visit numbers, plus anything you choose to send us by email or through a donation. We could be required to disclose information if the law demands it.

Where data is processed

Cloudflare and Google run worldwide networks, so data about your visit or your email may be processed in countries other than your own.

Your choices

You control everything stored on your device, as explained above. If you have emailed us or donated, write to us and we will delete what we hold, unless the law requires us to keep it. For data held by Cloudflare, Google or a payment provider, please contact them. You are welcome to write to us with any question.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If we ever add anything else that collects information, we will say so here and in the app first.
